In Psalm 23 it states, "The Lord is my shepherd..." Is the Lord your shepherd? Are you following Him? If you aren't you are missing out and you need to call on Him today. Don't delay.
If you are, that's terrific. But are there times when you are trying to run ahead of Him? Maybe during the times that we see later on in this Psalm in 23:4?
"Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death..."
Are you trying to run through those times? Why? Those are the times where David stated he was walking. Did you notice that? David walked and God taught him there with His rod and staff. Friends, the Lord is teaching you something in those valleys.
John Gill states this concerning the rod and staff in Psalm 23:
"This is not the rod of affliction as some think, but rather the rod of the word, called the rod of Christ's strength, and the staff of the promises and the provisions of God's house, the whole staff and stay of bread and water, which are sure unto the saints, and refresh and comfort them."
