"Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him" (Psalm 62:5).
It's been said, "We become disillusioned when we hold onto an illusion" (Craig Brian Larson). One way to keep from being devastated by disappointment is to cultivate David's attitude. He had no other help but God alone, and he calmed his heart, desiring only what God desired for him.
When we make our own plans rather than asking God for His plans, we're going to be disappointed. When we move when God hasn't told us to move, we're going to be disappointed. When we try to push the door of God's will open instead of letting Him open it, we're going to be disappointed. The only way to live is to cultivate a heart to want what God wants, even if you don't have any idea what that is.
This is where real faith comes in. You must quietly wait for God's will and accept it from His hand when He leads you in it. David went through difficulties that most of us wouldn't experience in ten lifetimes, yet in the midst of all his troubles, he only wanted what God wanted for him.
