Today truly is good, because our sins are not just covered up, they have been completely eradicated!
The Old Testament sacrificial system provided a "covering" or "atonement" for sin. But Jesus didn't come to be a sacrifice to cover sin. John the Baptist said, "...Behold the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world!" (John 1:29b, NASB).
Daniel the prophet predicted that Jesus would, "finish the transgression... make an end of sin... make atonement for iniquity, [and] ...bring in everlasting righteousness" (Daniel 9:24).
When we come to Christ what does God do with our sins? He...
Banishes them: Psalm 103:10-12.
Bars them from His sight: Isaiah 38:17.
Buries them in the depths of the sea: Micah 7:19.
Blots them out: Isaiah 43:25.
"Thank you Jesus for TAKING AWAY my sin through your death."
